Hospital Visiting

I didn't get to see my great aunt in hospital on Sunday evening because Laura was late home from the cinema so Jim just took my mum. They can home full of concern about her as she is really not looking well at all. Apparently she is dark yellow in colour and very weak. Laura was upset that she missed visiting her so I will try to get up to see her one evening this week.

I've posted a card I made on Saturday and I hope you like it. The papers are from the Quite Contrary range from My Mind's Eye and they are so bright and fresh looking I just love them.

Catcha later gaters.

Domestic Engineer At Work

Today I spent the day try to catch up with my housework which seems to have got out of control over the last week WAH!!! I swear that I have more laundry than the local launderette LOL. I was so glad that it stayed dry for most of the day and I managed to get a couple of loads washed and dried. I was absolutely exhausted by the time I had done downstairs I just managed to give upstairs a quick tidy up and I'll try to get to that tomorrow. I told Jim that we should get a smaller house and preferably a bungalow next time as I'm getting too old for housework and especially running up and downstairs with piles of laundry and the hoover LOL.

I did think that I might do some more baking and had bought ingredients for a couple of new things I'd like to try out but as the kitchen needed to be sorted out first I thought I should do that and maybe I will have time to bake tomorrow.

I also have to go and see my great aunt who is in the Western Infirmary tomorrow. She is 88 and was admitted with severe jaundice and a few other problems last weekend. She has been undergoing a number of tests but they haven't said too much yet other than she has stones in her gall bladder. Jim took my mum up to see her tonight and she is looking a bit better than she was so fingers crossed that she is on the mend.

Till tomorrow then.

Happy Anniversary to Us

Well it was yesterday LOL. We've now been married 16 years and it really doesn't seem like that. I know that 16 years is nothing compared to some of my friends but in my defence I was a late starter. I got some lovely yellow roses and also lilies from my mum so the house looks a bit like the botanic gardens again (not that I'm complaining). I must take a photo and share it soon.

Edited to add: Here is a photo of my beeyoooootiful roses.

Till later.

The Sun is Shining

I've just looked out the window and after a frosty night in the West of Scotland it looks as though it may be a nice day today - YIPPEE! In order to make the best of the weather I have already done a load of washing and I'm just off now to hang it out to dry. It seems so long since I've been able to say that with all the cold weather and rain we've had.

I've posted a card that I made last week using My Mind's Eye Be Loved cardstock and the image is from the Birds of a Feather range by the Unity Stamp Company. I hope you like it.

Catch ya later.

Catch Up Time

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days but life and one thing and another got in the way. Val and I popped into Costco on Wednesday afternoon, I ended up with a new navy raincoat and Val bought a book for Jack as part of his Easter. We then toddled off to Tesco to search out some bargains but didn't find much lol. Before we went home we decided to pop into Hobbycrap - whoops I mean Hobbycraft (or do I). I was looking for some cake decorating stuff and managed to get a couple of bits and pieces but as usual the scrapbooking stuff was rubbish. We did manage to pick up a couple of Bo Bunny papers that we didn't have so it wasn't a completely wasted trip.

Thursday - I would rather forget ever happened! It was that bad a day.

Friday - Wasn't much better during the day but in the evening Laura, Jenny and Ann (Jenny's mum) and I went to a Beetle Drive in the church hall. We had a lot of fun and Ann won the wooden spoon (complete with toilet roll) for the lowest adult score. As usual we did well in the raffle with Jenny winning chocolates, Ann won a bottle of Sangria and a bottle of chardonnay. Laura won a set of jams and chutney which she gave to her gran and a fairy wand filled with toiletries and she gave that to the little girl who was sitting at our table, which was very kind I thought. I won absolutely nothing for a change lol.

Today I was cropping with the girls and started several layouts and finished none of them. My mojo was missing in action and although I tried hard, things were just not working out - still there is always tomorrow.

Roll on Sunday.

Happy St Patrick's Day

Just a quick blog post today to wish everyone a Happy St Patrick's Day. I'm off out with my BF Val this afternoon for an afternoon of shopping. No doubt we will find somewhere "crafty" to explore as well.

Till tomorrow.

My Little Drummer Girl

I started this layout on Sunday but didn't make much progress with it but I was determined to finish it today. The photo was taken in May 2008 when we were on holiday in Florida. I can't remember which theme park it was taken in so if anyone has any idea please let me know. After the first week I think everything became a blur LOL. The cardstock and tag are from My Mind's Eye and I also used some Bo Bunny Alissa paper for matting. I also used another of my new Martha Stewart punches and managed to recycle some of the little punched out flowers to put onto the spotty paper. The buttons were rescued from my button box and I think the colours are a good match for the paper.

I've had quite a few health problems recently and one of the problems was with a lump that appeared on my lower back. I've been experiencing quite a lot of pain and the occasional numb leg over the last week or so and thought I really should go back to see my Doctor. I telephoned him yesterday and he managed to squeeze me in this morning and he was very nice (as usual). After an examination it appears that the size and shape of the lump has changed and he has prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory tables. Between these and my other tablets, I now have so many to take that I'm sure I'll rattle when I walk LOL. Fingers crossed that these do the trick or the next step is that I'll have to go for a scan and I really don't want to think about that. If I was a horse they would just shoot me!

Till tomorrow.

Mothers Day - Part 2 / Happy Birthday Mum

I just realised that I didn't share some of my lovely Mothers Day gifts with you yesterday so I quickly snapped a photo today. The little flower hamper was beautiful and I really will try not to kill the plants (I don't have a very good track record with house plants LOL). We opened the Roses chocs before breakfast (naughty I know) but hey it was a special day. I also got a selection of cd's and a lovely little china keepsake box with my birth month and corresponding flower on it. Thank you Laura for the lovely gifts and a wonderful day.

There were more celebrations today as it is my mum's 75th birthday today. Jim was working so Laura and I took her to dinner at a local hotel then back home for a slice of birthday cake - YUM!

Gotta go and catch up on some beauty sleep LOL.

Till tomorrow.

Happy Mothers Day

to all mums today. There is no doubt that being a mum can be a difficult job sometimes but the joy of being a mum makes it all worthwhile. Remind me that I said that the next time Laura gives me grief LOL.

I had a lovely day cropping with friends and although I wasn't very productive I did enjoy myself. As usual, food was involved with Sandra bringing my favourite white chocolate biscuits from Marks and Spencers and Lesley brought a huge box of home made cupcakes. They were so fab I had to take a photo of one of them. You can't see properly from the photo but they were sprinkled with two different types of edible glitter. Thanks for the goodies girls.

I did manage to make my mum a Mothers Day card - I hope you like it. The paper is from Bo-Bunny's Alissa range and the stamp is from Papertrey.

Till tomorrow.

It's Official ...........................

my friend Lesley is as big an "enabler" as Val. We met up tonight at Tesco so that I could hand over the PTI order (part 2) and we took a wee jaunt around Tesco looking for bargains. I hadn't brought any cash with me but thankfully I had my Switch card in my pocket. We managed to find a few bargains that you will hopefully see in a project or two sometime soon. I also bought a beautiful pink orchid for my mum for Mothers Day on Sunday. Let's hope I don't kill it before then LOL.

It's Finished !!!

I started this layout a couple of weeks ago and was really struggling with it. No matter what I did to it I just wasn't pleased with the result. I solved the problem today by changing the photo, the punch used, the colour for matting and I've stamped on it (not literally but with my chalk ink pad LOL). Now I'm happy and I really love the PTI buttons and the Bo Bunny Persuasion range paper. You can't really tell from the photo but I've stamped the white background area with Basic Grey Love Birds stamps (courtesy of my BF Val) using a pale, pale pink chalk ink.

Tonight Laura helps out at Rainbows then we are heading out to pick up some Dominos Pizza for dinner - YUM.

Tomorrow Val and I are getting together to "get crafty". I don't know what I'll be working on cos I've got so many things on the go at the moment so you will just have to wait and see LOL.

Catch ya later peeps.

Drooling Over PTI

Yesterday my friend Lesley popped in with my latest order from PTI. I had ordered two of their new stamp sets and dies but the dies went out of stock so quickly we didn't get it in the order and we've had to re-order separately. I also bought their new black felt and it feels gorgeous. I can't wait to try out my new dies on the felt when they arrive.

Thanks Lesley for bringing the order over and I hope the dies arrive soon so that we can play LOL.

Till tomorrow.

Scor-pal Project - Accordian Birthday Book Matchbox

Today I finished off the Scor-pal project that Val and I started yesterday afternoon. Although it was changed many times from the original idea I had, I was quite pleased with the way it turned out in the end. The cardstock is Bazzill and the patterned paper is from Chatterbox and it is doubled sided which came in handy when I needed a co-ordinating colour for the scrunched flowers for the top of the box. The bottom of the box has re-inforced sides to cope with the weight of the accordian book. I hope you like the project cos we had fun designing it.

Till tomorrow.

Two done ............

999,999,999,998 still to do LOL. This photo was taken in December 2006 when we were buying our Christmas tree over at Ardardan Nursery near Cardross. We always make a day of it and have lunch when we are there. Normally it is Jim, Laura and I that do it but that year my Mum was with us too and it was good to snap a photo or two of them choosing our tree. The paper was used (under duress) as I think it is Basic Grey. I hope you like it.

We Went, We Saw ...................

absolutely nothing that made me go WOW I need/want that. I must be getting too fussy these days but it seems to me that the show has gone downhill big time. The nicest thing I saw all day was this little flower arrangement lol. I did pick up a few papers and a couple of Hero Arts cling stamps that were an absolute bargain at £3 each (I think someone must have made a mistake with the pricing gun cos they were £7.95 everywhere else). I also bought some Decopatch paper and glue as a present for Laura, I thought that she could maybe alter a couple of things during the Easter holidays. She loves messing about with paper and glue and I'm sure she will love this.

Val and I were looking for nice rub ons for scrapbooking (again) but they were nowhere to be found and we went home disappointed. We also had a look at the new City Girls stamp range by Whiff of Joy and wanted to buy some but the stall had temporarily run out and were waiting for a new delivery. Val gave the stallholder her phone number in case they arrived when we were still there (well that was her excuse anyway LOL). We looked at some more of the newer stamp ranges but there were so many rip offs of the likes of Basic Grey, Stamping Bella and Elizabeth Bell Designs it is becoming ridiculous. Also the quality of the some of the stamps did not look particularly good at all so I think I'll stick to my faves - Unity, Stampendous and PTI (for cardmaking) and Autumn Leaves (for scrapbooking).

Okay that's my rant over, can you tell I was miffed about not being able to spend my money? Other than that we had a nice day, a fab lunch and lots of laughs. Tomorrow we're planning to do some crafting - here's hoping we get around to it.

Girls Day Out

Val and I are off to the Hobbycrafts Show at the SECC, Glasgow today for a "nosey". We were extremely disappointed in the last show but being crafters we are afraid that we might miss out on something LOL. I've made us some lunch because the food is always rubbish and so overpriced it is almost ridiculous. I'll report back later so watch this space.

One Done ,,,,,,,,,,

and a zillion others still waiting to be finished LOL. The layout I finished must be at least two or three years old and all that it was needing was buttons to finish it off. The paper and ribbon is French Twist by Autumn leaves and the photo was taken on holiday in Majorca about 4 years ago. We stayed in my friend Maxine's beautiful apartment in Santa Ponsa and it was absolute bliss. Laura is standing on the balcony just looking out over the pool and gardens (probably wishing she was back down in the pool lol). The title has been stamped (not absolutely perfect but I did my best) using my favourite Autumn Leaves Alphabet stamps. I absolutely love these stamps and would use them on every layout if I could. The smaller letters are Doodlebug rub ons that I've had for ages. I'll post a photo soon to let you see my handiwork.
Edited: Photo now uploaded although the light wasn't great.

Catching Up Day

Today I played catch up with all sorts of things that I've been meaning to do but just haven't got around to. For example taxing my car!!! Last week I remembered that the tax disc was due for renewal and then I promptly forgot about it again (not clever). Anyway I did it on-line and hopefully it will be here in a couple of days and in the meantime I'll just need to use Jim's car when he's not using it. I also had a lot of personal stuff to take care of Doctor/Dentist/Optician appointments etc to make but that's all done now so I'm "sorted".

I didn't manage to do any crafting today but I did sort out some layouts that, for one reason or another, didn't quite get finished. I'm now the proud owner of a pizza box full of layouts that just need finished off. Guess what I'll be doing at the next crop?

Till tomorrow folks.

Trying Out My New Punch

I got a new Martha Stewart Lace Heart punch and couldn't wait to try it out. I did get it to use on cards but couldn't resist using it on this layout of Jim and Laura at Cawdor Castle. In the first photo they are posing like a pair of models LOL and in the second they are both concentrating so hard on the quiz that they hadn't a clue that I was taking a photo. The paper is Abbey Road from Bo Bunny and it took me forever to cut out all of the flowers cos I didn't have the sense to buy stickers or die cuts when I bought the paper DOH!
Catch ya later peeps.
