Hot Date With a Married Man

Yep I had a hot date last night and didn't come home until midnight LOL but before you burst a blood vessel i should point out that Jim and I went to the cinema at X-scape to see Angels and Demons. It was great to get out and watch a movie that was rated higher than a 12. The reason for this mad impetuous night out was the fact that Laura was at a sleepover at her friends house so we were freeeeeeeeee! I picked her up today at 12 noon and by 2.3opm she was off out again to go swimming, back at 5.30pm then her cousin Kirsty arrived to take her out for dinner at 6pm - what a social life! I'm now waiting on her coming back so that I can take her to my sisters to get her hair trimmed.

I didn't get too much done in the way of card making yesterday but I did make a couple of cards with the papertrey ink With Sympathy and Life stamp sets. My sister came over and I helped her make a card for her friend's birthday so everyone was happy. The whole day kinda ran away from me yesterday and I didn't get to do half the things I wanted to so I have a lot to catch up on today.

Last Day at Primary School

Yesterday poor Laura struggled into school with her assortment of gifts that ranged from decorated coasters, boxes of hand made cards and sweets, backpacks and personalised tea/coffee mug sets. Everyone was very appreciative of their gifts which makes the effort so worthwhile.

I was just a wee bit emotional when school let out and all the children came running out cheering and laughing ready to start the summer holidays. Primary 7 were the last to come out into the playground and the daft mums (me included) were waiting with party cannons, streamers and part poppers and gave them a great big cheer They had all taken in their sweatshirts to be signed and when they came out wearing them they looked like a bunch of refugees but they were happy.

The whole class then walked to our local McDonalds for lunch and then onto Loch Lomond Shores where they spent the afternoon shopping, riding the train, paddling at the edge of the Loch and generally monkeying around to let off some steam.

My friend Kerry texted me last night to say she has her project organised for our meet up on the 28th July so I'd better try and dream something fabulous up soon or I'll be rushing at the last minute. Okay, okay I know I'm always last minute but I'm trying to organise myself (honest).

Val and I are getting together today and I would like to have a play with some of my new Papertreyink stamp sets. I have several sets that I am ashamed to say have never yet seen an ink pad. I'm going to rectify that today and get stamping as I really need to make some cards after spending so much time doing teacher gifts.

Till later ...........

Emily's Buddy Gifts

These are soooo cute I just
couldn't resist showing you the
pink version.

Aidan's Buddy Gifts

Just thought I'd post a photo of the little gifts made for Laura's little buddy Aidan. I filled the backpack with novelty erasers, small gel pens, lollipops, pencils and a pencil sharpener. The cellophane bag has a Thorntons chocolate lolly, a chocolate bar and some lollipops. I hope he likes his gifts.
The Autograph books apparently went down a storm and the teachers were oohing and aahing over them. Just wait until they see what I got for tomorrow(if I ever get them finished that is).

I'm Addicted

Has anyone tried the Thorntons Strawberry Crush white chocolate bar? They are fab and I absolutely adore them. Not good for the figure I know but hey ho a bit too late to worry about it.

Today was Laura's last day at the childminders. She has been with Linda a couple of days a week for the last 3 years and I'm sure she will miss going along there after school. I made one of the Personalised Stationery Sets as a gift for Linda and she was delighted with it.

I delivered the Autograph Books to the School today ready to be handed out tomorrow. The Head Teacher and Office Staff thought they were fantastic so let's hope the children like them too. I also finished off the backpacks for Emily and Aidan (Laura's P1 buddies) and I also made them a card and a little bag of sweets so they can also be delivered tomorrow which leaves Friday free for all the teacher gifts to be handed in. I will need to get cracking and get everything finished tomorrow.

What a Scorcher!

WOW! Today was unbelievably hot and definitely felt like the hottest day of the year so far. So where was I? a) Digging the garden - no chance b) Sunbathing - don't want to frighten the neighbours c) Indoors - yes I was indoors, but being so fair skinned that is quite normal for me. Anyway it was good to be inside because I was over at my BF Kerry's house. We had decided to have a playday and we brought a project to teach each other. My project was the stationery set pictured on Sunday's post. Kerry's project was a fantastic chipboard box with ribbon handle and matching decorated keychain. The biggest surprise of the day was that we used Basic Grey Sugared paper (and I liked it). Anyone who knows me knows that I have an aversion to Basic Grey and struggle to use it as it's not quite my style so progress is definitely being made LOL. We had such a good time we've decided to make it a monthly event so roll on the 28th July.

I also managed to complete the 22 tag autograph books for the other children in Laura's class as she wants to give them out tomorrow so today has been quite productive. I'll need to get moving with the rest of the teachers gifts tomorrow. Till then.

Pretty Tootsies

Yesterday I went for a long overdue pedicure. I thought I'd try somewhere a bit different and as a treat to myself I'd go somewhere a little bit posher than my usual local salon. I booked myself into PureSpa at Silverburn in Glasgow and off I trotted. It was very relaxing and my toenails are now sporting a lovely sparkly pink polish. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the fact that it didn't include doing your heels (which I thought was a main part of a pedicure). Apparently that is an extra! When I asked for it to be included the girl said that she didn't have the time as she had another client after me. Looks like my local salon maybe gives the better deal.

I picked up a couple of hard backed notebooks in the 3 for 2 sale at The Stationery Box with the intention of making some more Teacher gifts. Don't know if I'll have the time to do this but we'll see.

A Busy Day Making Gifts

Today I made this personalised stationery set to give to one of Laura's teachers as a thank you gift. The set includes 6 cards and envelopes and, using my trust Scor-pal, I managed to make the box and all the trimmings from 2 sheets of cardstock. I used one of my favourite Papertreyink stamps sets for this project. The patterned paper is from My Minds Eye which I used with a Dark Brown Bazzill. Photo courtesy of my friend Sandra who is a genius with a camera.

I've also been busy finishing off the gifts for Laura to give her 5 closest friends when they finish school on Friday. I love these little autograph books and hope that they have great fun getting them signed. I used Doodlebug papers for the covers, die cut a bookplate using my red sizzix die and added a couple of co-ordinating brads. I used my stamping up file tab punch for the inserts and voila! So that no-one is left out I'm now working on another smaller version for the rest of the class - looks like tomorrow will be another busy day.
My friend Val helped out by making two cute little backpacks for Laura's little Buddies in Primary 1. I've just got to do a couple of finishing touches and then I'll post a photo.

Leavers Service

The Leavers Service went well and I had to have a little weep seeing my "baby" up there on the stage and remembering the day she went to school only 7 short years ago. I don't know where the time has gone. She was so little the day she started and looking at her now she is all grown up. I was fine until the woman next to me started to blub and then I started. It's the words of the songs they sang that really got to me because it is all about believing in yourself and moving on. I managed to get through 3 paper hankies before the end LOL.

School stops on Friday 26th so I'm busy making gifts for her closest friends and for some of the Teachers and Staff at the school. I've made covers for 6 autograph books tonight so I'll need to finish these tomorrow and then get on with some cards and teacher gifts. I've been talking about doing these since February but haven't made much progress but then again I usually work better under pressure (which is just as well).

Proud Mummy

The Leavers Farewell was fabulous and I have to confess I had a tear in my eye. It was done in the style of The Apprentice, complete with Sir Alan Sugar and his sidekicks Margaret and Nick. The children were the apprentices and they all played their parts beautifully. They each had pieces to say about their time at the school and their special memories. Then they showed a video with snippets from Primary 1 to Primary 7. It was lovely to be reminded of just how little they were when they started and to see them all now so confident and ready to go to secondary school. When they sang a song called Believe which is all about moving onwards and believing in yourself I was gone and had to choke back the tears. Tomorrow is the school service and I just hope I can make it without blubbing.

Greetings From Widow Twankey

Well I certainly feel like Widow Twankey - all I've done yesterday and today is wash and iron and wash and iron. I'm just trying to get stuff ready for our holiday. We won't be going for a while yet but I thought I'd make the best of the weather and make a start. My DH brought the cases down from the loft today so that I can start to pack them.

Laura has her Leavers Farewell tomorrow evening at her school and we are looking forward to it. It won't be long before school breaks up for the summer and she is looking forward to her new life at secondary school. She will be going to the local high School Vale of Leven Academy. I went there myself (and survived) so hopefully she will enjoy it.

I've just visited one of my favourite papercraft sites http://www.papertreyink.com/ and, as usual, have ordered myself a few little treats. I didn't choose anything from the new June release but preferred a couple of older sets. Can't wait for them to arrive so that I can play!

Playing With Copic Markers

Apologies for not posting yesterday but I treated myself to a day off to play with my Copic Markers. My friend Karen Watson and I attended the Copic Design Event at CHA, Los Angeles in January this year to become Certified Copic Designers. I came back full of good intentions to use these but as usual, time has run away with me and I hadn't really had time to practice. However, after playing for a whole afternoon I will be using them all the time from now on. I think they are absolutely fantastic and I had great fun. I have the Copic Ciao set and there are 144 colours in this range. Now I would be the first to admit that I'm no artist but these pens blend so well together you can really achieve amazing results.

Off now to do some more weeding in the garden while the sun is shining - well someone has to do it and my DH is "allergic to weeds" apparently!

Oooh My Back Is Sore

I've been busy trying to get my garden into shape before the weather changes again. I'm definitely getting too old for weeding LOL. Anyway it's not finished but it looks a lot better than it did. Is it my imagination or have ants taken over the world??? We seem to have zillions of the little blighters at the moment although I should maybe have said that we "had" zillions before I went made skooshing ant powder around like a mad woman. Hopefully I'll be able to do a bit more tomorrow (if my old bones will stand the pace).

Gotta go now and get Laura's uniform ready for school tomorrow. She needs the formal uniform tomorrow as they are getting their photograph taken for the local newspaper. It really does look smart and I actually prefer it to the polo shirt and sweatshirt she normally wears. I can't actually believe that she will be going to secondary school after the summer - where has the time gone?

Sunny Sunday

Yesterday was a lovely day here in Sunny Scotland. Our recent bout of fabulous weather had disappeared but came back yesterday, a little cooler and more bearable.

All the sunshine seemed to help my creativity and my BF Val and I designed and made a receipe box for our next Scor-pal Class on the 13th June. It was one of these times when everything came together quite easily (which makes a change LOL). We used the Unity Stamp Set 'Home made by' which is really fantastic value at £19.99 and, as usual has a huge number of images for the price. This set is available from www.thepapercraftcompany.co.uk and is very good value as you also receive a free wood mounted image for stamping the actually recipe cards. I can see me making quite a few of these for gifts in the future. See photo above and I'll post details of the box after the class.

It looks like it is going to be another sunny day so I'm off now to get my daily chores started.
